WE ARE READY FOR EAGLES- KATONGO -

Zambia skipper, Christopher Katongo has switched his sights to today’s encounter with Nigeria after Monday’s draw against Ethiopia. The Chipolopolo couldn’t make use of having an extra man on the field as they played 1-1 with Ethiopia who had goalkeeper Jemal Tassew sent off in the firsthalf. “[Ethiopia game] was tough but we will qualify to the quarterfinals,” said Katongo. “We have two games so we will make sure we collect maximum points. We will wear a different jacket in the game against Nigeria.” “We are ready against Nigeria, people should not judge us based on one game; this is not the result we wanted but what we are asking is for the nation’s support.” Today’s encounter between the defending champions will reawaken memories of the past matches between both sides in the Afcon. Nigeria defeated Zambia 2-1 to win the 1994 tournament in Tunisia. The Eagles also triumphed via penalties in the quarter finals at Angola 2010.
