The protesters, who had assembled in the Freedom Square, Lokoja, as early as 6.00 a.m., Were dislodged by armed mobile policemen. The protesters passed a vote of no confidence in the state chairman of NLC, Mr James Odaudu, and his executive. The protesters, who assembled peacefully along Angwar Aza, near Megeri Palace in Lokoja, were caught unawares, when the policemen allegedly opened fire on them and killed one Anas Gambo, who was not part of the protest, along Madabo. Many people were also injured during the clash which lasted for two hours. It was gathered that after killing Gambo, the police took his body away in one of their vehicles. Newsmen, who were at the scene to cover the protest, were almost killed as they took cover to avoid the police onslaught.
